Mrs. Leonard explains Class Dojo, our positive behavior system, and how it is an essential parent-teacher communication tool at TPJHS.

Hello, and welcome to another fine year here at Tellico Plains Junior High. My name is Amy Leonard and teach 8th grade social studies here at the junior high. I wanted to talk to you today about our school discipline program Class Dojo and just kind of remind you of the ins-and-outs of the program and how it works. Our program is set up into two level you have level 1 and then have level 2. at level 1 the first thing that happens if your child receive their first infraction there are simply receive a warning the teachers going to pull them aside to discuss their behavior with them and let them know if they actually that yes indeed you do have one infraction and it will be login to Class Dojo for you to be able to see the second infraction is going to involve effective writing if your child receives a second infraction they will be pulled off to the side their behavior explain to them and they're going then they're going to going to be asked to complete a worksheet that is designed to cause them to reflect on their behave and consider how in the future they can make better choices that will produce a better outcome after the third in fraction students are starting to really need to be redirected their behavior at this point we're going to give a call huh go to talk to Mom and Dad explained exactly what your student has done up until this point to get three infractions and then this your child's going to receive someone's attention all this entails is that they're going to be separated from their friends during lunch detention and given and do these two really reflect on the consequences of their own actions at their third infraction students are no longer eligible for our quarterly Behavior reward I want to stress to you the importance of checking in to do so often as a parent don't you send out notifications for positive feedback as it is to admit it but infractions do you need to be checked by the TV repair in periodically it is very important to check on your student's Behavior often I will recommend you check on your child's Behavior at least every couple days alright what's your child receives their fourth in fraction then they're going to be at level 2 at level to their behavior is really becoming an issue and it very important that we get their behavior right angles and before it really gets a strain your if your child receives a $0.04 fraction They will receive after-school detention it's recorded in dojo and student-athletes are suspend one game in addition dojo points are not going to roll over at the end of the quarter detention is typically held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4:30 and yes parents you do have to make arrangements to have your child picked up someone who is listed on the approved to pick up list at this Vision fraction at this point classroom interventions are really not working with your child and the office doesn't need to be called to intervene. it was recorded in ClassDojo the the principal is notified via email and they take it up from there the 5th and fraction will typically involve one day of ISS in-school suspension 1/6 in fraction is going to be in two days of in-school suspension and then that seventh in fractions that's when you're talking about suspension if your child makes it to 1/8 in fraction with in 1/4 than is very likely that they're going to look security suspension and or alternative school so hopefully the steps prior to this can help us avoid that drastic step parents you need to be sure to do that download the ClassDojo app onto your phone you haven't already done so this is the very best best method of communication about your child's behavior and it is also a very good way to stay informed to the goings-on here at Tellico Plains Junior High I hope that this this helps to answer some of your questions we look forward to communicating nothing but positive things about your child that is the goal and this is a program that really works and the one of the best benefits of it is the amount of 2 caitian that we are able to have between students and parents so if you're ever concerned about your child's Behavior please just make sure that you're logging into Dojo very regularly and checking on their behavior another good thing JoJo is that you can communicate with all the teachers directly we get those those messages fairly quickly and were able to engage in a conversation that way and also were let were able to share wonderful things that are going on here in the classroom as well as school watch for example if your child is a project in my class and I feel like they've been an exceedingly good job I can take a picture of that wonderful worth if they've done and uploaded to the portfolio in your house. no account to be able to see that and that's just that's just a wonderful thing so I hope that this helps you understand the dojo plan a little bit better if you have any more questions please feel free to reach out to me especially to your child's homeroom teacher and hopefully we can answer any questions that you might have about the program alright well I'm going to sign off today and I pray that you guys have a wonderful school year and that we can hit the ground running and we just have a wonderfully enjoyable time this year OK Google
